Chris Plavidal Art Display at the Library!

Posted March 14th 2014

The Baylor Health Sciences Library is pleased to present a new photographic art exhibition!  Entitled “Recess Is In,” this exhibit features a collection of seven pieces photographed by Chris Plavidal and will display from March 7, 2014 – May 30, 2014.

“Recess Is In” is a collection framed around the Great Recession which, as the artist states, impacted society in a ‘profound way’.  These images, captured in the North Texas and Eastern Oklahoma regions, reflect the overall malaise that plagued the nation from late 2007 to 2009.  The artist completes the series with a final piece which, he believes, elicits an urge to seek inner refuge from this despair.

Plavidal was born in New Orleans but grew up and attended school in Texas.  He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1994 and then began working in the photo industry.  He now has a commercial photography business and photographs for clients such as New York Times Magazine, Neiman Marcus, DMagazine and Texas Monthly, as well as many others.

Be sure to check out this exhibit on the First Floor of Baylor Health Sciences Library!
